Stephen was born September 2, 1967 in New London, Conn. He was the first child of Margaret
and Marshall Schofield, and came home to their house in Waterford. They soon after moved to
Essex, Conn, where he lived to adulthood. Stephen graduated from Valley Regional High School
in 1986. He attended UConn at Avery Point.
Stephen spent most of his working years in the field of graphic design. He worked for several
companies including Old Glory and The New London Day, and his current employer, Copy Cat
Printing in Norwich.
Stephen had many hobbies, which he loved sharing with friends. He enjoyed a good book, and
building models. He loved taking various electronics apart and rebuilding them, especially
vacuum tube receivers. Movies and music were a big source of entertainment, and he attended
over 200 concerts in his lifetime. His love of travel and concerts had him visiting other states
and countries as he followed his favorite bands– The Grateful Dead and Phish. Every weekend,
Stephen enjoyed playing games with his friends. Other nights he could be found appreciating his
favorite cigar at the local cigar club, swapping stories about sci-fi, travel, history, and trivia.
Stephen is survived by his partner, Tracey Cook of Norwich, Connecticut; his sisters, Susan
(John) Lowry of Keene, NH, Lynley Maher of Haddam, CT, and Lisa Robinson of Higganum,
CT; nephews and nieces Oscar, Maxwell, Owen and Augustus Lowry; Anaka, Malakai and Aiden
Maher; Braedon, Griffin, Tyler, Margaret and Cody Robinson; as well as many beloved aunts,
uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Marshall and Margaret Schofield.
His ashes will be interred next to his parents in the Memorial Garden at St. John’s Episcopal
Church in Essex, CT.
A casual celebration of Stephen’s life will be open to all on Saturday, December 9, 2023, 2:00
pm, at the Centerbrook Meeting House in Centerbrook, CT, with a reception immediately
following.
