Blondin- Robert Daniel Blondin 85 of Norwich passed away on Wednesday May 8, 2013 at Backus Hospital. He was the husband of Pauline (Rice) Blondin. He was born in Winooski Vermont, son of the late Leo and Dorothy Blondin. Following graduation from high school, Robert enlisted in the military service and was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran serving with the amphibious forces. He served on several ships with the last one being the LCIG428. Robert was the manager of the Ralston Purina Company in Norwich, followed by 28 years employment with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. Following his retirement from Metropolitan Life, he became the Branch Manager for the Eastern Bank and Trust in Norwich and Waterford. He ended his work career in the Security Division of the Millstone Nuclear Power Plant. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and card games. He was a member of the NRA, the Sprague Rod and Gun Club, the VFW, the American Legion, and the Metropolitan Life Veterans Association. Besides his wife he is survived by 4 sons, Dan Blondin of Norwich, James Blondin and his wife Sara of Blue Springs Missouri, William Blondin and his wife Jeannine of Griswold, and Gary Blondin and his wife Kimberly of Colchester. He leaves his grandchildren, Christian Blondin and his wife Amy of Ipswich Ma., Jeannette Blondin of Norwich, and AnneMarie Blondin of Boston. He also leaves a great grandchild Stefanie Bromley of Norwich, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by his sister Norma Rennie of Florida. He was predeceased by his sister Anita Bowler. Funeral Services will be Monday May 13, 2013 11:00 a.m. at the Church and Allen Funeral Home 136 Sachem St. Norwich. Burial with full military honors will follow in Maplewood Cemetery Norwich. Visitation will be held Monday May 13, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the Church and Allen Funeral Home.
