Norwich-Mary Sabina Elizabeth Korenkiewicz Sanborn passed away January,14, 2022. Born February 17, 1929 Daughter of Mary Kluczynski and Frank J. Korenkiewicz, Sr. Mary graduated from Norwich Free Academy, class of 1947. Worked at Yantic Woolen Mill, Grants and Lehigh Gas-Oil. Retired as Manager of the Department of Motor Vehicle, Old Saybrook office.
Survived by Son Philip V. Sanborn Jr. and wife Cathy, Daughter Valerie A. Nickolenko and husband John, Daughter Gail M Rygielski and husband Steve, Daughter Diane L Cormier and husband David. 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A special niece and godchild Debbi Hayslip.
Predeceased by her loving husband Philip V. Sanborn Sr., parents Mary and Frank Korenkiewicz, brothers John and Frank Korenkiewicz, and sisters Jane Plante and Patricia Martin.
We would like to thank her wonderful, caring, aids over the years. Kathy LePage and Joan Sherman and her more recent team, “Mary’s Girls” Alicia Fontaine, Victoria Holland, Alexandria Rodriguez, Irene Paradis, Allison Cherry and Jada Mercado. Without these special women’s extraordinary love and care, her journey from the comforts of her own home to heaven would not have been possible.

Calling hours are Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 4-7 at Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave, Norwich, CT. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00AM, Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Sacred Heart Church, 52 West Town Street, Norwich, CT.
