It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Martin Stanley Yablonski of Goldens Bridge, New York who passed on Saturday June 17, 2023. Martin has left to be forever missed by Fred Gomez, devoted husband of 15 years and partner for 40 years, sisters Connie Moshier (Bernard) of Preston,CT, Veronica Granger ( Henry) of Bozrah, CT, nephew Howard Moshier (Ellen),
nieces Stephanie Moshier- Patel (Nayan) and Jeanette Granger-Coleman (Michael Lachance). Grand nephews, Sameer, Lukas, Ravi ( Patel) and Larkin (Coleman), dear friends, Mary Gardner and Cathy Singer. There are countless others with whom Martin shared his strength, knowledge, skills, and kindness throughout his seventy five years. Martin was the son of Stanley and Gladys Yablonski of Norwich who predeceased him.
Martin devoted his life to helping others. He graduated from NFA in 1965, graduated from St. Anselm’s College, N.H. with his bachelor’s degree. He received his master’s degree in special education and peripatology from Boston College. His professional career included extensive work as an orientation and mobility specialist at the New York Association for the Blind and the Board of Education. He served as director of program services at the Center for Independent Living in New York City. He was the Executive Director of Guiding Eyes for the Blind in Yorktown Heights, N. Y., developed a school for the Blind in Hong Kong, taught at Hunters College in N.Y., and was Executive Director of Lighthouse for the Blind in New York City.
Martin was so much more than his educational and professional career to those that knew and loved him. He shared his humanity, insight, love and kindness with all. His love of art, his ability to make everyone feel heard and loved brought out the best in each of us and enriched our lives. His humanity touched everyone.
Martin, along with Fred, added color to everyone’s life. It will be the honor and the duty of his family and friends that were loved by him to keep his legacy alive by bringing his kindness, awareness of self, advocacy and love to the world in his absence.
In remembrance of Martin, please do something joyful and create a loving memory with family and friends.
