Jean R. Lemire

Norwich- Jean Lemire, age 79 was born in Pierreville, Quebec, Canada. The family moved to Montreal a few years later. After 9th grade, he went to work for a tailor for a while, then for his brother who had an insulation business. His work took him to 19 states working on various powerplants, schools and hospitals. He worked diligently in that field for 54 years.

He married his wife, Louise, in 1964. They later immigrated to the US, finally settling in Connecticut in 1984. He enjoyed traveling, and going on fishing trips with his son. He was a skilled tradesman and enjoyed doing his own renovations to their home. As part of his retirement, he started a giftware business at the Jewett City Flea Market. Although his wares changed over time, he was a steady presence there for 34 years and enjoyed it till the end.

He was a kind and caring man who tried to help his family and friends any time he was needed. His generous nature and his devotion to God will be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Louise, son, Roger, and daughters, Martine, Elaine and Brigitte, and their spouses. He also leaves behind his brother, Pierre and wife Francoise, his sister, Angele, his brother, Yvan, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rock and Jeanne, and two brothers, Clermont and Maurice.

Jean was a man of faith, a loving husband, and father who will be greatly missed. We give thanks to God for letting us have him in our lives, and we pray that our Prodigal Father is receiving him with open arms.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 181 Elizabeth St. Norwich CT on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 11 am, meeting directly at the Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Norwich CT.
