Politicians, business owners, and friends made his store a regular stop to talk to Hank. During WWII, he worked at Hamilton Propeller in Taftville to fulfill his military requirement, as his vision was not good.
Even as his eyesight faded, Harold witnessed all 27 Yankees World Series Championships and was still an avid fan listening to every game on his Sirius XM radio.
Surviving are three children; Patricia Novak (Donald), Thomas Mahoney, and Kathleen (Chmielewski) LaTour (Harold), seven grandchildren; David, Robert and Michael Novak, Susan Chmielewski Lang (Mike), Karen Chmielewski Collins (Mick), Timothy Mahoney (Patricia) and Stephen Mahoney (Jaime), great-grandchildren; Ariana Novak, Megan Lang, Julia Lang, Zachary Collins, Sydney Collins, Patrick VanderVennet, Rosemary Mahoney, Harold Mahoney, Noelle L’Heureux, Norah Mahoney, Cadence L’Heureux, and Chloe Mahoney. The LaTour family was like his own extended family, and they were so kind to him over the years.
