LILLIAN – Stephen Baxter Brown, age 83, of Lillian, Ala., died June 10, 2017, in Pensacola, Fla. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Rice's Valley Baptist Church with Brother Sam Delaney officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be today, June 13, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his father, Lelon Brown and mother, Uzona Brown.Survivors include his wife, Shirley Crocker Brown of Lillian, Ala., daughter, Judy Brown Kealer (Randall) of Pensacola, Fla.; brothers, James A. Brown (Lana) of McCalla, Ala. and A. J. Brown (Lynn) of Aliceville, Ala.; sister-in- law, Sue Liming; brothers-in-law, Russ Crocker (Linda), Ron Crocker (Doris) and Hugh Liming; uncle, Gay Hendrix; and all of his beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.Steve was born in Houlka, Mississippi in 1934. He moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where he met and married Shirley, the love of his life for more than 62 years. He owned and operated a contracting business in Memphis until 1967 and later owned and operated Steve Brown, Inc. in downtown Northport and Adequate Mini Storage until retiring in 1994. He moved to Lillian, Ala. in 2015 to be near his daughter and son-in-law. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, operating heavy equipment and spending time with his friends, family and neighbors. He shared his love for the Lord, his savior, with his caregivers and many others that he came in contact with during his 17 month long battle with Lung cancer.Pallbearers will be Alan Liming, Kevin Liming, Adam Liming, Kelon Crocker, Aaron Crain and Austin Taylor.Honorary pallbearers are Rice's Valley Baptist Church family, Brother and Mrs. Jimmy Hughes, former employees of Steve Brown, Inc. and friends and neighbors on Bridgeview Drive.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations can be made to Rice's Valley Baptist Church.
