He served in the United States Army and retired as a master sergeant in 1986. Roy also worked as a secretary at the Veteran Administration and DCH Regional Medical Center.
Roy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Loretta Kelley; children, Charles Kelley (Ai) and William David Kelley; grandchildren, Christopher K. Guinn, Yoshiaki Guinn, and Jamee Fondren; great-granddaughter LeeAnna Fife; and siblings, Johnny Dean Kelley, Bobbie June Manley Mathews, Vennie Faye Kelley Hobbs, and Beverly Joan Kelley Moss.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Harley Kelley and Vennie Jessie Lewis Kelley; and siblings, Gladys Willie Mae Kelley Duvall, Edith Kelley Driggers Murdough, Ralph Waymon Kelley, Ollie Evelyn Kelley Goodman, Lucy Catherine Manley Ross, Doris Patricia Manley Thomas, Roy Daniel Kelley, Ruth Delilah Kelley, and Luther Franklin Kelley.
A visitation for Roy will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 3802 Watermelon Road, Northport, Alabama 35473. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home with a burial to follow in Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, AL.
