Ronald James Young

Ronald James Young, age 68, of Tuscaloosa passed away July 23, 2023 in Florence, Al where he and his wife were attending a friends wedding. Ron was born in Riverside, California on October 24, 1954 to the late John and Lucille Young.

After moving several times with his parents to different Air Force bases, he attended The University of Alabama where he met his wife of 45 years, Mary.

Ron is survived by his wife, Mary Romeo Young of Tuscaloosa; sons, Johnathan M. (Rebecca) Young of Indian Springs, Al and Geoffrey M. Young of Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Jack & AnnMackay Young; brothers, Michael M. (Carolyn) Young of Southlake, Texas along with six nieces and two nephews.

His parents, Lt. Colonel John M. & Lucille E. Young, of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida precede him in death.

Ron was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa. He was an avid hunter and golfer and enjoyed coaching youth baseball for many years. He so loved spending time with his sons and his grandchildren. He retired from United Johnson Brothers Wine Company after many years as Sales Manager.

The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life Gathering, Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 4:00PM until 6:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 3802 Watermelon Road, Northport, Al 35473. The family has requested donations be made to your favorite charity in Ron’s honor.
