MCCALLA | James "Jim" Garland Stripling, age 67, of McCalla, died January 15, 2014, at home. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014, at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Richards, Rev. Jerry Montgomery and Rev. Benny Hayes officiating and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Stripling, Sr.Survivors include his wife, Donna Stripling of McCalla; daughter, Courtney Rogers of Memphis, Tenn.; son, Martin Rogers Jr. of Denham Springs, La.; father-in-law, John Cagle, Sr.; sister, Gail Roland (Scott) of Northport; brothers, Calvin Stripling, Jr. (Delores) of Coker, Billy Stripling (Erin) of Northport, Dwight Stripling (Dianne) of Northport, and Larry Stripling of Cordova; mother, Kathleen Stripling; grandchild, Alyssa Rogers of Denham Springs, La.; and a host of nieces and nephews. James had previous service with the Northport Fire Dept., owned Southgate Auto Sales in Tuscaloosa and retired from Property Enhancement Services of Pelham, Ala. Pallbearers will be Martin Rogers, Jr., David Stripling, Tyler Roland, Don Mathews, Lloyd Ackley, Scott Roland, James Parker, and Don Kirby.Honorary pallbearers are George Pate, 1964 Graduates of Northside High School, Larry Walker, Stanley Sanford and members of Englewood Baptist Church.
