Teo Canderan, raised in Spilimbergo Italy, passed away in North Vancouver, British Columbia on April 19, 2024, at the age of 90. He immigrated to Canada in the early 50’s, married Frances (nee Macri) in 1959, and started their life and family together. Teo worked his way up in a bakery retiring as a well-regarded foreman. He came home with many stories. Besides work stories, Teo always had a story to tell, or something that he felt you should know that would help you in life and was always willing to pass on his wisdom to anyone who would listen. He had a way of drawing you in and listen to what he had to say.
Teo loved to sing opera, so he joined the North Shore Light Opera Society and was involved in a number of musicals. He sang during parties, while he was skiing riding the chair, and even at the hospital during his last few months. Nurses, visitors, patients, and doctors mentioned that they enjoyed his singing and his spirit.
Skiing was Teo’s favourite activity. He started skiing in the mid-1960’s and skied to the age of 83 years, skiing the runs of Blackcomb like he was half his age. It was amazing. He loved skiing with family and friends but also enjoyed meeting people on the mountain when he was skiing on his own. He had the gift of being able to converse with anyone.
Teo is survived by his wife Frances, his daughter Lorelei, and son Dwayne (Jeri), his two granddaughters Taya (named after Teo) and Mia, and relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Ludovina, his brothers Italo (Magdalena), Benito (Magda), Arduino (Edda-deceased), and sister Vittorina (Giancarlo-deceased).
We would like to thank everyone for their support and kind words.
