I was devastated when Igor sitting in my place learned and told me about Ryan's tragic death. I  can't find the words to convey how sorry I am for your loss. Igor shared with me stories about amazing friendship with Ryan and their motorcycle trips.
Ryan's memory will forever be a reminder of the love and joy he brought into the world. His spirit will always be with you and people he loves

Dear Dianne, Barry and Justin,

We are sorry that we can not be with you in person today. Ben's work took him  to Ottawa and Merlin and I are sick. We have spoken of you often over the  past two weeks - sharing memories and our vicarious grief. We will be with you today in heart and spirit.  We will  also look for you around home in the days to come.

In February of 2022, Ryan, then 28, was upgrading his helicopter maintenance qualifications at an airport in Buckhead, Arizona.  Buckhead is about 20 minutes from where Marlene and I lived, and Ryan was gracious enough to visit us for lunch. We were excited about this rare opportunity to see him, as normally we live more than 1,000 miles apart.  It had been at least a decade since we last saw Ryan in person.  Over lunch he told us stories about his life, including his work with helicopters, moving helicopters between the northern and southern hemispheres to fight fires, and his experiences working in Australia and Chile. Ryan was clearly delighted with his chosen field of work, his family, his dog and his life in general.  We had no idea that this would be the last time we would see or talk to him.  Ryan was an outstanding nephew, son, brother, and human being.  We love Ryan very much.

Dear Dianne, Barry + Justin....
 
I'm thinking about being your back-alley neighbours for so many years. When Scott and I just had Harper, and both Ryan and Justin would come to over to the back yard and deck to see the new baby. ... And how SWEET Ryan was. Polite and gentle and easy to make laugh.   

Every Halloween, all the holidays, catching up in the alley with him––always curious and willing to share. 

May Life hold you all in this deep loss. Such a mystery and such a heartbreak. May it bring you all closer together and to Spirit. You're in my prayers.
