It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Davie at the age of 93 on January 15, 2020 in West Vancouver. Ron leaves Joan (nee Hill), his loving wife and partner of 69 years during which time they wove their way from England to the east and west of Canada and into the hearts of their many friends.
Ron was born January 25, 1926 in Shanghai China, the son of Grace Darling Davie (nee Klynn) and Robert Davie. At age 14 Ron and his mother were confined in a Japanese internment camp until the end of the war. In 1945 Ron was “repatriated” to Bournemouth in England where he promptly had the great good fortune to meet “Joey” (Joan). And the rest as they say, is history.
Ron and Joan married in 1951, immigrated to Canada and together worked their way west from Guelph in Ontario and then to North and West Vancouver. Ron worked as an engineering methods analyst and served in a volunteer capacity at Lions Gate Hospital. Ron’s wry wit, friendship and limitless trove of stories of his early years in China will all be missed.
In memory of Ron, donations to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation would be welcome. https://lghfoundation.com/donate/
Due to COVID, and in keeping with Ron’s wishes, there will not be a service, however, we sincerely encourage you to share your memories and stories of Ron as part of this communication and celebration of Ron’s life.
