Alan decorated his yard so beautifully at Christmas.  It was always such a pleasure to visit with him and Maybelle here at home or at Birch Bay where we lived close by.  I have many pleasant memories of the very special Hartley family gatherings.


Allan  the best Father inlaw ever ,
One of my  favorite  memories was when he  heard a new joke  he couldn't wait  to share it with every  one .  It was usually a  good one , but most  of  time  he either  forgot  the punch line..... or added his own twist to it., and Maybelle  lovingly  would say Ohh  Allan  thats not how it goes ......
It never mattered  seeing Allan  laughing  at his  own Dad jokes  was infectious  and everyone wold have a  great laugh. Miss you RIP   ❤

My deepest symathy to all of you. I remember all the fun times  we had on Boxing Day, parties, time at Birch Bay. You all, welcomed us to your home when we moved out from  Saskatchewan .  I remember all of your weddings and babysitting for Gary and Laurie and Linda and Bill.  two very special people are together in heaven. They will be missed but you will always have your memories. So many memories with the Hartley family at Birch Bay from summer activities to Thanksgiving dinners.  Gosh, one time, 72 people sat down for Thanksgiving dinner in Kinna's bunkhouse with Wyn Harbord rushing from house to house as he supervised the turkeys being cooked and the vegetables too.  And, such wonderful memories they all are.  Everyone helped everyone else with their various projects and, you, Allan, were always there.  You were one of the 'team' who actually helped move Kinna's bunkhouse and you worked to pour the concrete for the Harbord's patio as well as many other jobs on the street.  You were well loved and appreciated Allan for all the help you gave and your fantastic sense of humour while doing it.  You were always laughing.  You are dearly missed my friend and we are glad that we got to know you and all of your family!  Much love, John and Lynda

Allan and Maybelle  always loved it whenever I would go over to their place (which was next door) for happy hour. I would phone and ask if the bar was open, take my drink and share an hour with them...we always had lovely times together. They were such warm and friendly neighbours .

My friend Jean would accompany me sometimes as well so there was always extra laughter and good cheer at those times.

It was a sad time for all when Maybelle and Allan left Berkley for Harmony Court. We waved every time we passed by which was very often. It will be both hard and sad to have to break that habit.

May you two lovely souls rest in peace. We will miss you very much.
