It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Patricia Anita Davies, aged 79, on Saturday, December 7th, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family.
Pat was a devoted mother, sister, and grandmother. She leaves behind her sons, Lewis (Jennifer), Stan (Deborah), and Mark (Nicole); her sister Phyl (partner Lorraine); and her cherished grandchildren Olivia, Roman, Natasha, Thomas, and Paul. She is also fondly remembered by her former husband, Matt, and his wife, Irene, with whom she maintained a loving relationship. Additionally, she is survived by her stepsons Dave (Julia) and Brian (Toni), and their loving grandchildren Felix, Maya, Ryan, and Cameron.
Pat was a woman of endless energy, boundless curiosity, and a heart full of kindness. She spent 25 years shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher, retiring only to become even more active in her community and family life. With a witty sense of humor that could light up any room, she was known to her grandchildren as “the best Nanny in the world”, a title she wore with pride and love.
Pat was a two-time breast cancer survivor whose resilience was matched only by her love of adventure and uncanny knack for fateful coincidences that seemed to follow her through life. She traveled the globe with her late husband and soulmate, Patrick Way, with whom she shared not only her name but a lifetime of laughter, devotion, and an inside joke that earned them the nickname "The Pats." Now reunited, we can only imagine them resuming their travels and debates, with one Pat surely reminding the other who was always right.
Always the social butterfly and an independent spirit, Pat made friends wherever she went, bringing joy and warmth to countless lives. She was an exceptional cook with an insatiable love for exploring different cultures through their cuisines. Always on the go, she thrived on volunteering with the Pacific Parkinson's Research Center and the North Shore Unitarian Church, where her compassion and energy left an indelible mark. Pat was also a cherished member of her beloved book club, where her insightful perspectives, lively discussions, and friendships brought joy to countless gatherings.
Pat adored her dogs, especially her beloved Maki and Winnie (her sons' dogs, though she claimed them as her own). Her home was always filled with laughter, warmth, and…a nice full glass of wine!
Pat lived a life rich in love, laughter, and adventure. Though her absence leaves an irreplaceable void, her legacy of kindness, humor, and unshakable spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Pat’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Lisa Gaede, whose compassionate care and unwavering support enriched her and Patrick’s lives over the years.
A celebration of life to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Pacific Parkinson's Research Institute or the BC Cancer Foundation in her honor.
Rest peacefully, Pat, and enjoy the next great adventure with your soulmate. You’ll always be our guiding light and eternal inspiration. A bientôt!
