Lourdes Del Prado Dunning, lovingly known as Lulu, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on February 1, 1934, Lulu was a beloved Mother, Lola, and Friend who touched the lives of many with her warmth, humor, and hospitality.
Lulu's childhood was filled with joyful memories, particularly those spent climbing fruit trees at her grandmother's orchard, a time she cherished deeply. Her love for family was a constant throughout her life, and she found her greatest joy in the weekend gatherings at her family home in Novaliches, Philippines.
Lulu is survived by her five children: Marivic, Roberto, George, Gabbie, and Marilou; her five grandchildren: Curtis, Salvador, Tashlyn, and Lorenzo, Enrico; and her great-grandchild, Isabella. Her legacy of love and devotion lives on through them.
Throughout her life, Lulu achieved much to be proud of. She was chosen to promote Philippine tourism across Australia, an opportunity that allowed her to share her love for her homeland with the world. She was later promoted to Executive Assistant to the President of Bristol Myers Philippines, where she earned a reputation as the "company troubleshooter" and a social organizer, especially for visiting foreigners. Her excellent English grammar skills and entertaining spirit made her a key figure in the company's social circles. Additionally, Lulu played a pivotal role in the organization of the Philippine Medical Association during its inception.
As a single mother, Lulu was a pillar of strength for her family, ensuring that all her children had the support they needed to start their professional lives and excel in their careers. Her ability to balance her career with her family responsibilities was a testament to her resilience and dedication.
Lulu's favorite song, "Who Can I Turn To" by Tony Bennett, reflects the depth of her emotions and the connections she cherished with those around her. She was also an accomplished bowler, serving as the President of the Makati Bowling Federation and representing the Philippines in tournaments across Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Bangkok.
Lulu was a talented crafter, excelling in crocheting, beading, cooking, and baking. Her creations, whether in the kitchen or with a crochet hook, were expressions of her love and care for those around her.
Lulu will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her warmth, her resilience, and the boundless love she shared with family and friends.
