It was with great sadness that I learned of Lee’s passing. He was a wonderful guy to grow up with, with a great deal of kindness, creativity, humour, wit, and appetite for hijinx. He had a lot of heart and a strong desire to make things right in the world. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The main describer I come up with when thinking of Lee, is: gentle. Lee was a big kid when I first met him in Grade 5, with a bunch of rowdyish boys that had an awful lot of energy, but also an awful lot of curiosity and willingness to learn. That group was one I will never forget, and that I was lucky enough to accompany right through to Grade 11. I got to see them, Lee included, grow into magnificent young men.
So Lee was a gentle young man when I knew him. He was also wickedly smart, and this showed up in his sense of humour, often during his "invented" current events contributions.
The third trait I remember and appreciated most, was his sensitivity. Not sensitivity to himself, but towards others; his empathy for others when we studied difficult periods of history was notable.
Gentle, smart, and sensitive. And he always dressed with just a little bit of an edge, his own style.
I will miss him.

My memories of Lee are of him as a child and young adult in elementary school and high school. Lee was tall and handsome. He was a great athlete and a musician. He was smart and personable. He was a prankster. He was a risk taker. He was an entrepreneur.
I have lots of memories of Lee. But sadly I haven't seen my old friend in a long time and my memories get fuzzier with time. But one memory is clearest for me. It's not a specific event. What I remember most about Lee is his humour. I remember him constantly joking. If I pause and think, I can see him in front of me right now. He is animated and smiling and laughing. He is joking and being ridiculous.

A friend of Lee's and my parents was Making clothing, Lee and I both got pants made of parachute material. We were both convinced that if we jumped from high places the pants were sure to work and slow our descent like a parachute would. Super excited to try out our new parachute pants Lee had an idea to count how long it would take us to touch down after jumping from the top bunk.
First jump regular sweat pants: 1 (said very slowly)
Second jump with parachute pants: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 (fastest you can count)
It's unbelievable how great these pants work!!
I bet we could jump out of airplanes and glide to safety!!

Lee and I went to Mexico after high school. Growing up listening to hip hop we idolized hip hop artists and their fancy chains. Never in a position to afford expensive necklaces, having chains like our hip hop icons was simply
out of reach	that is.... until Mexico!! We were so excited, Lee started shopping inexpensive big hip hop style chains immediately!! "Jamie! Look at this man!" Lee had about 10 necklaces on, and by the time we left the "jeweler" both of us looked like Mr. T. So proud of ourselves we couldn't take our chains off, and wore our necklaces through the night. Our symbols of success faded quickly, and in the morning we both had huge green marks inked into our chests. We laughed so hard at ourselves for the rest of the trip!! Even though the chains were fake, the memories of being a big shot for the night, and the countless hours of laughter would remain priceless.

Alban took Lee, JP and I on a road trip to California. I remember us packing our backpacks and skateboards and piling into the big red and white van. On our way to Los Angeles we got to stop at California Cheap Skates, a huge skateboard distributor located in San Luis Obispo. Lee and I were SO EXCITED!! We got brand new boards, new clothes and gear. I remember us skateboarding under the shade of the eucalyptus trees, in the dry heat. Arriving in Los Angeles, our final destination, Lee and I got to live out a childhood dream of skateboarding on the Santa Monica Boulevard. The memories of Alban making us cheese and mustard sandwiches, the smiles on all our faces, and this one evening of us skateboarding on Santa Monica Boulevard as the sky turned pink on the horizon with JP cheering us on are some of the happiest I can remember. The smiles, the laughter, the fun, forever in our hearts!

I was blessed to spend a lot of time with Lee from when he entered Sherwood Park Elementary School in grade 5 until we graduated high school at Argyle. I have countless fond memories of Lee. From watching him as the big bad wolf in the school play at Sherwood Park. Playing sports with him on the school grounds. Horsing around at Outdoor School and tipping over our canoes into the freezing lake. Hanging out at Elaine's loving home in Deep Cove. Hanging out at Alban's in the city. Listening to Hip-Hop and sketching graffiti in our notebooks. Roaming around Lynn Valley looking for house parties. Too many great memories!
Lee loved to laugh and joke around. He was super friendly and everyone liked him. He had great manners and treated people with respect and expected the same from others. He was polite and kept his promises to friends. He was gentle and sensitive. He was very articulate. He was creative through his skateboarding, art, and music. Lee is one of the best friends I'll ever have! I carry his spirit wherever I go. Love you bro!

I remember at lunch in grade 10, Lee taking on Argyle's star basketball player in a game of 1 on 1. Shouldn't of been surprised that Lee dominated him as he was the best basketball player at Ross Road when he left in grade 3. I also remember him being exceptionally good at hiding in grade 2. One time the school grounds had to be searched when Lee hid so well in the classroom after reading period.

His skateboarding skills were absolutely amazing. His keen sense for detail and graffiti styles was truly an inspiration. Lee carried himself with pure coolness and understood the power of music, clothing and art. He was literally at the forefront of underground cultures and Styles. Like many of you here today, I met Lee in high school at Argyle Secondary. We shared many of the same classes and hung out a lot after class. He was always in a positive mood and made friends with everyone.
After high school, he had huge ambitions. I remember Lee was always trying to devise a way to make it big. When he was working at Earls, it wasn't enough for him. He was busy thinking up a new restaurant concept called Nushi which was a new take on sushi. I was lucky enough to team up with Lee and James when they came up with a clothing company called Neoline Designs. The graphics were slick and we had a lot of fun coming up with new designs. It was a great feeling being out and about and seeing some random person with a Neoline hoodie.
Lee and I eventually got into electronic music and again, just listening to it wasn't enough. Lee taught himself how to use the software to produce it. He then taught me how to use it which I'm extremely grateful for. Lee would write all kinds of tunes with complex melodies and he was very talented.
I really wanted to see him succeed and be a part of it with him. We always dreamt big and it was an honor spending some of the best years of my youth with Lee. I've learned a lot from him.
Life doesn't always turn out the way you planned but trying to make the best of it and striving to make it better is worth pursuing.
Thanks for everything Lee, you will be missed by many.

Lee was a great friend to me growing up. We had some amazing times together. During early elementary I would go to his mom's house for after school care. There, we would do so many fun activities as little kids love to do. They made me feel like part of their family and I cherished that. His mom, Elaine, is still one of my favourite people to have an impact on my life. Going through French Immersion at Sherwood Park with Lee was super fun. He was always smiling, laughing and was Mr. Popular since the day we started there. He was even the lead actor in our school musical. Lee was a great athlete as well. We played soccer together on the Mount Seymour Buccaneers. He was one of our lead scorers. As we grew into teenagers, we would do stupid teenager things together. Sometimes we would be up to no good in our neighborhood of Deep Cove. Everything was fun to us back then. We even did a cross-border road trip with Lee's dad, Alban. We had such a memorable time with so many laughs. I will never forget it. Fortunately, we ended up continuing our French immersion journey together into high school at Argyle. We had to take a 45min bus ride every morning from Deep Cove to Lynn Valley. Good thing we always had a few of us close friends to keep us company on the journey up there everyday. Lee continued to be his charming and friendly self into high school. He also continued to excel with sports like soccer and basketball
where I had the privilege of being his teammate. As we got older, we enjoyed going to parties together, playing more basketball and just hangin' like teenagers do. Lee, we had some crazy times together. I am truly sorry that we never had a chance to reconnect over all these years. You were a big part of my life and helped shape the man I am today. I will never forget your smile and your infectious laugh. I can still hear it today. I love you bro. I will never ever forget you.

Lee’s mother always thought of Lee as her gentle giant. He was a truly large man, but so incredibly gentle in spirit and soul. 


I will always remember Lee as a very kind, large huggable bear of a man. I will miss his help getting my luggage down the million stairs to the house...always too much for a short stay!...and the good humour and kindness he would show me in hefting it all down the hill.

One time. Lee and his beloved mother Eléna joined a group of friends for a dinner party.  In the middle of the meal we all noticed at almost the same time that Lee was missing. After a brief panic we also noticed that the car was missing as well. Lee being so polite did not want to interrupt the festivities to say goodbye. He missed dessert and so now I think of him at every dinner party and thinking of serving dessert first.

I coached Lee soccer for a number of years and remember him as an extremely upbeat and polite boy. Always put a smile on my face and he was encouraging to all those around him. So sad to hear of his passing and my thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

I will always remember Lee with a smile on his face and a polite query to me about what he can do for me.  He was a brilliant and creative young man with a zest for life and loved his home in Paradise aka Deep Cove in a small piece of forest where he lived with his loving and supportive mother, Elena.  
May he rest in peace.
