It is with great sadness that we announce Ken McClelland passed away peacefully in his 96th year on March 15. Ken was predeceased by his wife Edith of 66 years and is survived by his loving family, son Ken (Sheila) and daughter Carol (Colin), six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Ken grew up in Weston, Ontario and moved to North Vancouver in 1958. Ken was gifted with a long life that he used to the fullest. Ken served in the RCAF Ferry Command during WW2 delivering bombers to England, Africa and India. A life-long sailor and fisherman, he was a member of the Kitsilano and later the West Vancouver Yacht Club where he served as Commodore in 1975. He was an active 25-year member of the West Vancouver Seniors Centre where he was involved in bird carving, woodworking, flight simulator and photography groups. His other interests included painting and golf where he was a member of the Gleneagles men’s golf group. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by everyone whose life he touched. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Lynn Valley Care Centre, The Summerhill and Home Care West for all their support over the years.
A celebration of life will be held on April 3, 2018 from 2 pm to 4 pm in the Marine Room of the West Vancouver Seniors Centre, 695 21st St., West Vancouver. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Lions Gate Hospital.
