Jack passed away peacefully on May 25th, 2020 in the North Shore Hospice. Predeceased by the love of his life Diane in 2012, he leaves behind his son Joe (Katherine), daughter Laura (Mark), grandsons Kyle (Kaila) and Peter, granddaughters Maila (Avi), Freyja (Eldon), and Alanna (Jason), great granddaughters Sienna, Amelia, and Sanjana and great grandsons Charlie and Ashwin, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard and Janice Kirkrod, sister-in-law Joan Kirkrod, and several nieces and nephews.
Jack was born in Victoria, and raised in Vancouver. Jack graduated from Lord Byng High School before he attended UBC, where he received his Bachelor of Commerce degree. He was a lifelong member of the CGA/CPA Association of B.C.
Jack was employed by Woodward's for his entire 40 year working career. He started work in the Downtown Vancouver store as a box boy, before he moved on to positions in Port Alberni, Calgary and Montreal before returning to Vancouver. He retired as the Assistant Treasurer.
Jack had many interests, including gardening and exploring the outdoors of B.C. with Diane through every season. His gardens were filled with numerous rhododendrons and azaleas. Many activities Jack and Diane enjoyed doing together included canoeing and kayaking through the southern Gulf Islands, hiking and cross-country skiing on the North Shore mountains, cycling through Metro Vancouver, and camping.
The family thanks Dr. Dana Haaf for Dad’s care. Sincere thanks to the amazing medical team of the North Shore Hospice, especially nurses Dayana, Denise and Cam.
