The unofficial mayor of Lynn Valley has suddenly stepped down. Joffre Brondgeest believed in leaving a party while you're still having a good time, and so he did. He went for a quick ride up Mt. Fromme on May 4th and didn't come home. Joff was an awesome son, husband, father, brother, friend, neighbour, mentor… and an all-round "above average" guy, to use his words. Joffre leaves behind his wife, Michelle; daughter, Cassie; and son, Sam, who are so grateful to him for the wonderful years, many adventures and love shared. Nothing meant more to Joff than spending time with his wife and kids. He also leaves extended family, good friends and colleagues who loved him deeply - too many to name, you know who you are. Joff was known for his positive energy and ever-present sense of humour. He enjoyed his early years working for Super Valu Park Royal, and the last 22 working for the District of North Vancouver. Joffre loved riding the local trails with his mountain biking buddies, talking to neighbours and skiing with anyone willing to take a perfect powder day off. Lynn Valley was Joff's home for more than 52 years. He loved connecting with people, genuinely interested in what they were doing and where they were going, especially young people. That is why we are honouring his memory by establishing a scholarship in his name at Argyle Senior Secondary School. Contributions can be made to The Joffre Brondgeest Memorial Scholarship at any branch of BlueShore Financial. Joff always said "It's all about the story." His was epic. Just too short.
