It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Joan Elizabeth Jones (Legge). She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family after a brave battle with Parkinson's Disease and Dementia.
Joan was born in Saskatoon and her family relocated to Vancouver in the early 1960s. It was there that she met the love of her life Charles Llewelyn (Charlie) Jones while working at CP Rail. They were married for 59 wonderful years.
Family was the most important focus of Joan's life. She will be missed by her loving husband Charlie, her daughters Lorna (Bob) Hightower and Carolyn (Wade) English, her grandchildren Alicia (Russell), Kristin, Jonathan, Laurel and Jared, and her great grandchildren Olivia and Penny. She is survived by her brother Ralph (Bev) Legge, sisters-in-law Roberta (Andy) Shepherd and Patricia Jones, and brother-in-law Howard Jones. She also had numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Joan worked many years with Transport Canada, first working at the Pitt Meadows Regional Airport and later in Vancouver. She was very creative and enjoyed many hobbies. She sewed, made Victorian lampshades, painted and handcrafted teddy bears. She loved gardening, golfing, and being outdoors. She strongly believed in helping where she could and volunteered at the UBC Botanical Gardens and was a Green Coat at YVR. Joan's most endearing quality, and what will be remembered most by her family, was her gentle and kind nature. She saw the best in people and situations and always had a smile.
The family would like to thank the VCH home support care and the palliative care teams who provided such kind and compassionate care for Joan.
