James, Genevieve (née McConville) - Sept 16, 1944 - Nov. 2, 2023
Genevieve was born in Talara, Peru to Walter Thomas McConville and Margaret Eleanor Frith. Upon the family’s return to Canada in 1950 she grew up and attended school in Calgary, Alberta, graduating from William Aberhart High School. She moved to BC in 1966.
Genevieve was an excellent student, athlete, and musician, playing both the piano and cello. She studied music at the University of Victoria and at UBC, and was for many years a children’s piano teacher in Vancouver.Later in life she fulfilled a childhood dream of taking up tap-dancing, entered competitions, and won awards for her performances. In her working career her careful attention to detail served her well in the data processing and record keeping fields.
She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters — Joan Isabelle McConville in 1948, and Donna Margaret Hughes in 2011. She is survived by her sister Marjorie Burrowes (Midge), her stepmother Eileen McConville and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
