It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Joan Gilmour in the early morning hours of January 15, 2021, after a hard battle with cancer just weeks after her 65th birthday. Barbara was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was predeceased by her father John, and is survived by her mother Marguerite (aka Bunny), older brothers Bruce (Betty-Ann) and Peter (Deb), niece Joni (Kiel), and many beloved friends. Barbara was born in Montreal, but has called the North Shore home for 35 years.
Barbara was an example for everyone to follow, always finding the good side of people and never the bad. Her favourite expression was "Que Sera, Sera", "Whatever Will Be Will Be", and lived by this motto until her last day. She spent many years working at Safeway in West Vancouver, making many friends with co-workers and customers alike. Barbara had a youthful spirit and lived a selfless life, giving to everyone before taking for herself, and never complained.
Her family and friends will miss her optimistic outlook on life, and her cheerful, smiling face. Our thanks go out to the caregivers and staff at Lions Gate Hospital and North Shore Hospice for the care and attention they gave in her short time with them.
