Richard attended Denton High School and North Texas State.
Richard was a mechanical contractor, an owner and President of MSI for 40 years, and the owner and President of Planned Land Development from 1973 until his passing. He also was a rancher in Durango, CO. for 15 years.
He was a member of the following: First Presbyterian Church, Civil Air Patrol, Ham Radio, Air Conduction Contractors of America. AOPA and EAA.
Richard's hobbies and interests consisted of flying, fishing, boating, hunting, sailing, skiing, hiking and horse backing riding.
Richard is survived by his wife of 40 years Priscilla, his daughters Jimmie Kay Forand (Al), Cynthia Wilson (Bill), Cathyrine Hilgendorf (Ken Sr.); his brothers-in-law Michael Whelan (Patti), Jerry Whelan (Jean) and Tim Whelan (Ann); his grandchildren Alex Forand (Breigh), Amanda Rice (Jensen), and Kenneth Hilgendorf Jr. (Karla), Steven Grotowski, Alexis Forand; and his great grandchildren Cayd Grotowski, Kyah Grotowski, Zoey Hilgendorf, Mckenna Rice, Aubree Forand and Cali Forand.
Mother-in-law Peg Whelan. Mr. McKinnon is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his sister Elizabeth Albritton and his brother Don Michael McKinnon; his granddaughters Michelle L Fletcher, and Capri S Grotowski.
A memorial service for Richard will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 717 Prosperity Farms Rd, North Palm Beach, Florida 33408.
