Peter Garaj, age 53, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, passed away on December 20, 2022. Peter was born in Ziar nad Hronan, Slovakia on May 30, 1969. Peter was an alpine skier, downhill racing champion, so in 2001, he first came to the United States to compete in a downhill race in Aspen, Colorado. He decided to stay after meeting his future wife, Cindy, who was a massage therapist for the race teams.
Peter was an entrepreneur and innovator who had an infectious laugh, especially at his own jokes. He never backed down from a challenge and thought he could do anything. Peter was a brilliant and well-known artist with paintings and sculptures on display across the country. Despite enduring his share of tragedy, his talent and passion shone brightly, and his artwork will serve as enduring gifts for all of us. Peter was a force of nature whose positive impact will continue to be felt by many.
Peter is survived by his mother, Lydia Garajova; his wife, Dawn; his daughters, Bella and Ziva; his brother Marek (Miska) Garaj; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Peter was predeceased in death by his father, Rudolf Garaj, and his first wife, Cindy Garaj.
A visitation for Peter will be held Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a funeral service to occur at 11:00AM to 12:00PM at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral Cremation and Event Center, 754 Us Highway 1, North Palm Beach, FL 33408. A graveside service will follow on Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Riverside Memorial Park, 19351 SE County Line Road, Tequesta, FL 33469. A reception will immediately follow from 1:00PM to 4:00PM at Loggerhead Marinelife Center 14200 US-1, Juno Beach, FL 33408.
