A decorated World War II hero and former NYC Police Lieutenant; Jim will be missed by his close family and many friends.
Jim was born on November 23rd, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY. He entered the Army Air Corp. in 1942 and served until 1945, earning several decorations including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After being shot down on a mission over Germany, Jim escaped from a Swiss Internment Camp.
After the war he began his career in the NYC Police Department, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. Jim started his family in Brooklyn and moved to Massapequa, LI in 1962. He and his wife, Pauline, moved to Florida full-time in 1992, where they were members of PGA National. An avid golfer, Jim will be missed by his Friday “Skins” buddies.
Jim is survived by his wife Pauline, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL., son; Glen, of Monmouth Beach, NJ, grandchildren; Jacqueline and James of Montville NJ, sister; Florence, Brooklyn, NY, nephew; Jim Cooney (Priscilla) and daughter Helen, Ponte Vedre, FL., niece Dorothy Woodford (George), Freehold, NJ, niece Lucretia Holcomb (Bradley),of Boulder, CO.
Friends may visit the family at the Howard-Price Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 26th, from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm., with a Scripture Service at 8:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 9999 North Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park, Tequesta, FL.
