Dorothy “Dotty” Snead Wilson passed away at the age of 80 from pancreatic cancer at her home in Palm Beach Gardens on August 15th. Born in West Palm Beach at Good Samaritan Hospital on September 23, 1941, she lived in Florida all her life. She graduated from Palm Beach High in 1959 and attended Palm Beach Junior College for secretarial skills. She was married to James “Jim” Keith Wilson on June 1, 1963 at First United Methodist in West Palm Beach and built their home in 1967 in Palm Beach Gardens where they raised their family and made lifelong friends. They were members of Trinity United Methodist Church and active in the Stephen Ministry. Dotty was a stay-at-home mom. Once her kids were older, she lectured at Weight Watchers, worked at Publix, Barney’s Coffee and Haagen-Dazs. She also had an ownership share in the Mrs Fields Cookie at the Boynton Beach Mall. She was a longtime volunteer at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center as a Pink Lady and Kravis Center as an usher. She enjoyed traveling, fishing and playing bridge, mahjong, bingo and canasta with friends.
Dotty was preceded in death by her husband Jim and is survived by her daughter Lesley Shea (husband Bill) of Wellington, FL; her son David Wilson (wife Allison) of Nashville, TN; her sister Betty Bell of West Palm Beach, FL; her four grandchildren Michael Wilson (wife Christine), Stephen Wilson (wife Cati), Matthew Wilson and Riley Shea; and her three great grandchildren Madelyn, James and Olivia Wilson.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 19th from 5-7pm at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral Cremation and Event Center at 754 US-1, North Palm Beach.
