Died peacefully on February 1, 2021 at age 88 in Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. He was born in Chicago, Il, to Louis A. and Kathleen O’Connor Hartz. Donald served in the US Air Force and was a flight instructor and Second Lieutenant. He graduated in 1950 from St. Ignatius High School in Chicago, and with a degree in Airport Management from the St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO. He incorporated his home building business in 1963 and had 58 successful years, building over 15,000 homes.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Linda; his six children Michelle (Ken), Phillip (Cyndee), Kathleen, Mark (Jennifer), Donald and Denise (David); nine grandchildren; his brother Bill (Linda); his stepsons Brian and Tim Swedberg (Maria), three step-grandchildren; and Geraldine Hartz, the mother of his children. He was pre-deceased by his parents, and his brother Robert (Janet), and three grandchildren.
A viewing was held on Thursday, February 4th at the Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral Home located at 754 US Hwy 1, North Palm Beach, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, February 5th at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius, 9999 Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, FL at 11 am, with entombment following at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, 10941 Southern Blvd, Royal Palm Beach, Fl.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Illinois at a later date.
