Born in Honduras – Raised in Kingston, Jamaica – Resided in Miami, Florida
It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lenet Stewart, affectionately known as Daisy. At the age of 97, Daisy entered her heavenly rest after a life filled with grace, resilience, and an unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Daisy was born in Honduras and spent her early years in the warmth of her Jamaican heritage. She was a woman whose spirit shone brightly, and who never let hardship extinguish her light. Despite the many challenges life presented, Daisy carried herself with quiet dignity and an endless capacity for love.
Her journey took her from Jamaica to the United States, where she became an integral part of the Van Wye family, serving them with care and devotion for over six decades. But it was within her own family that her most profound impact was felt. As a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Daisy shared her wisdom and kindness with all she encountered.
She was a survivor in every sense — triumphing over breast cancer and later facing osteosarcoma with silent courage. Through every trial, Daisy’s grace, faith, and radiant joy never wavered. She found happiness tending to her gardens, sewing with care, baking her cherished lemon cakes, and singing along to Bob Marley and old Jamaican hymns.
She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Garry, and several dear siblings. She is survived by her devoted niece Glenda and grandniece Kate, nieces Valerie, Melinda and beloved sister Julia. She also remains forever beloved by the Van Wye and Alschuler family — Mark, David, Marie, and Joy, Judge — who were blessed to call her family. And a host of loving family members, friends, and those blessed enough to call her "family."
Daisy’s legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched, the meals she shared, the prayers she whispered, and the love she gave freely and without condition. She was a woman of deep faith, whose strength and kindness were like no other and will forever be remembered.
Now, in the eternal garden, she is at rest, free from pain and sorrow. Though we mourn her absence, we take comfort in knowing that she lives on in our hearts and in the beautiful memories she left behind.
