Robert E. Washburn

Robert (Bob) Eugene Washburn, born January 2, 1930 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, gained his wings on October 9, 2020 at the age of 90 in Sherwood Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Ruth Washburn and a daughter, Valerie Carpenter. Those survived by him are, daughter, Vicki Wise (Tim); and 2 grandsons, Richard Carpenter (Stephanie) and Justin Wise (Stephanie).

Bob was a Veteran, having served in the United States Navy.

After a lifelong career with the airlines, he retired from Frontier Airlines in 1984. You could see him look to the sky every time an airplane flew over. Bob was a hard worker and was always willing to lend a hand on any project you had. A few of his enjoyments were reading his bible, playing golf (documented for making a “hole in one”), spending time with family and friends and doing anything that was adventurous, especially in Oklahoma. He was a huge Sooner football fan. He loved going for walks in the woods or just down the street. His most precious memories were taking his grandsons (Richard and Justin) on trips to Palo Duro Canyon and Caprock Canyon, just to name a few places.

Bob was a loving father and grandfather. He provided a wonderful life for his family. If he saw your need, he would fulfill it. He made sure everything and everyone was taken care of.

Special recognition is given to Sherwood Nursing and Rehab Center who took great care of him and Baptist Health Hospice who cared for him and his family in the end.

His celebration of life will be October 13, 2020 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, 7724 Landers Road in North Little Rock, AR. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 and a service will follow from 2:00 – 3:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arkansas Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
