Johnny “O” Obergfell, age 74 of Sherwood, passed away into the Loving Arms of God Almighty on October 19, 2020. He is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Debra Wiley. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Grace Marie and John Henry Obergfell. Johnny had a beautiful daughter, Tammy and 2 beautiful grandchildren, Megan and Lindsey. Johnny loved his girls. He adored our little dog, Sassy, who died August 1, 2020. I am certain she was there waiting on her “Daddy” when he passed.
Johnny was known as Johnny “O”. He was in the car business for 50 years and had numerous close friends and business associates. He had a passion for the car business. Johnny took a long walk on the wild side, but later became a member of the Wolfe Street Foundation/Alcoholics Anonymous. He was extremely heart proud as he died with 31 years of sobriety. Simply stated, Johnny “O” was a great man. I know for a fact he loved everyone.
Although I may not agree with Johnny’s final wishes, I must honor them. To do otherwise, would be the ultimate disrespect. Johnny will be cremated, services provided by Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home in Sherwood. There will be no service of any kind per his request. Please pay your respects for Johnny on here. It would bring me comfort and a joyous heart.
A very special thank you to Chuck Dory, Andy Polston, and Sandi David for their help during this traumatic time in notifying a large number of people concerning Johnny’s sudden death. To my very special friend, Tedd J., thank you for your immeasurable comfort and laughter.
When someone you love becomes a MEMORY, the memory becomes a TREASURE.
I will miss his love. Although somewhat personal, I wanted to share the softer side of Johnny. When Johnny was working, he left a little love note to me by the coffee pot, never missing a day. After he could no longer work, at bedtime, he would text me loving messages every single night. We have so many memories together. Johnny is my “FOREVER LOVE.” I will join you someday My Precious Johnny …just make sure the chocolate is ready.
In closing, there is one final note. Forgiveness is the Gift you give yourself. Don’t wait until it’s too late.
