Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to leave a message here. I regret that I can’t respond to your kind words and fabulous stories. Hopefully you will see this and know how much I appreciate your thoughtfulness.

I can’t believe I didn’t mention how much Mom loved to sing, dance, and especially how much she loved to laugh! He laughter was infectious and making others laugh was inevitable due to her quick wit. The “tag”under her name should have been “She never met a stranger.”

Melissa and I were saddened to learn of your mother’s passing.  How full of life she was!  And what a good daughter she had.

   My Mother (Louise Perry) and I worked with your Mom at Southwestern Bell until they retired. She and my Mom had known each other since the mid 1940’s and worked together then.
   My fondest memory of Johnnie was one day the three of us were having lunch together. She and my mother began to reminisce about working downtown during the 40’s and 50’s. The subject came up about the paper boys who walked around selling the afternoon paper, the Arkansas Democrat. Together they stood up and in unison sang out, for the entire SWBT 3rd floor lounge, the way the paper boys did, “Demeoooo creat PAPERRRRR. They sat back down and just laughed and laughed. 
   I will miss seeing Johnnie in Krogers, we always caught up on the latest news in our families.  Johnnie was so proud of all of you. We felt as though we knew your Dad, you, Gary and the grandchildren. She went through life with grace, dignity, beauty and oh what a wonderful personality! 

Coco,  our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time.  Johnnie was such a beautiful lady inside and out.  We will always cherish the memories we share of you both.  Love you always.  

I was so sorry to hear of Johnnie's passing. We worked together at SWB and Johnnie always kept things fun. She was a joy to be around.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Coco ~ I enjoyed spending time with your sweet mother.....watching out the glass doors for birds we would try to identify; and, the squirrels;  three o'clock chicken broth and crackers time; laughing with her; listening to her talk lovingly about you and your strength.  So glad I got to know her and you.

  The things I remember most about “Miss Johnnie” are that she was always kind to everyone she met and never said a harsh word to anyone. She loved her children fiercely and was proud of their talents and accomplishments.

   Coco, the first time I saw her out and really had a conversation with her was at the Villa Marre in 2004. My mom spoke to her first, and they were chatting for a few minutes but it was her necklace that caught my eye. I complimented her on it and her face lit up more brightly than the Christmas lights in the room. She explained that you created it, and had a successful business making jewelry in New Mexico. She probably talked about you and your travels, accomplishments, and artistic talent for a good 15 minutes. Her eyes sparkled  and she smiled the whole time. She loved you very much, and the gift you gave her by staying by her side in her final years shows that the feeling was mutual. Those are moments that nobody can take away from you.  I know there is an enormous void in your world now, but hopefully the memories can bring you joy and strength in the days and year ahead.
