James Carthal Jones Sr. , 82 of North Little Rock, departed this life for better place on Friday, February 26,2021. Carthal passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children and their spouses. He was born April 26, 1938 in Scott,AR. He graduated from Scott High School in 1956. He went on to work for Safeway grocery, Coca-Cola Bottling Co.,Jackson Cookie Co. and ended his working career with Coach USA and Little Rock Touring Co. Carthal loved having jobs were he could meet people and he never met a stranger or forgot a name. His all time favorite was when he would carry the Arkansas Razorback basketball team. Carthal was a lifetime, die-hard Razorback fan and rarely missed a game in any sport.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Bill and Betsy Jones of North Little Rock. Carthal leaves behind his wife and soulmate of 63 years, Patsy Yvonne (Pat)Kinley Jones. Cart was always her "compass" in life. In her later years, as Alzheimer's took it's toll on her, she would always look to him for comfort. He selflessly stayed close by her side and they were rarely seen when he was not holding her hand to comfort her. Carthal is also survived by a son, James Carthal Jones Jr. (Jay) and wife Vicki of Sherwood, a daughter Lynn Burnett and husband Bill of Austin. A brother George Jones (Colleen) of Hot Springs Village. Four grandsons: Bryan Floyd (Haley) of Sherwood, Jarod Floyd (Sarah) of Monroe,LA, Zachary Jones of Sherwood and one granddaughter Lindsay Floyd of Cabot. Carthal is also survived by four great-grandchildren. Kinley, Cooper, Caden Floyd and Landen Leber, along with two sisters-in-law, Emma Chrestensen (Ted) of Huntington Beach,CA, and Barbara Martin (David) of Heber Springs. He is survived by 8 nephews and 1 niece along with a host of great- nieces and nephews. Carthal leaves behind many, many friends he considered family. Visitation will be Monday, March 8, 5-7 pm at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in Sherwood. A family funeral service with be Tuesday, March 9, 10:00 am and will be live on the Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Facebook page.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of St. Vincent's North for such wonderful care during the past few weeks. Also, to Cabot Nursing and Rehab for their love and support for mom and dad during the past few years and their continued care and love given to mom.
