Betty was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised her family in Great Neck, NY before moving to Silver Springs, Maryland where she had a career with Sears. She retired to Tamarac, Florida with her husband of 65 years, Al. Throughout her time in Tamarac, Betty volunteered for City of Hope and most recently the Women’s Club.
She is survived by her son, Joel (Jackie) Smith; daughter’s Susan (Carl) DeNicolis, Ronni (the late Steven) Welsch; grandchildren Jennifer (Jimmy) Rhein, Jacob (Amanda) Smith, Eric (Madi) DeNicolis, Michelle (P.J.) DeNicolis, Jeffrey (Mandy) Welsch and the late Howard Welsch; great grandchildren Owen, Colin, and Maggie. She was the beloved wife of the late Al Smith; sister Elaine (the late Max) Smith and the late Laurrie and Harry Hofberg; many loving nieces and nephews and their families.

A funeral service for Betty will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Chapel, 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, FL 33068. Following the funeral service there will be a committal service from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL 33449.
