Joseph Robert Koenig Jr.

Joseph Robert Koenig, Jr. of North Fort Myers passed away on August 7, 2017. He was 71. Joseph was born on February 4, 1946 in Fond du Lac, WI to Joseph R. Koenig, Sr. and Josephine (nee Valenzuela), who passed away in childbirth. Joseph was raised by his father and Helen Mertens Koenig. Joseph went to St. Mary’s Grade School, and then graduated in 1964 from Goodrich Sr. High School both in his hometown. He then attended University of WI in Oshkosh. Joseph spent a majority of his career with Andalusia Community Bank in Andalusia, IL where he served as President for 22 years until his retirement in 2009. Joseph was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching many teams, especially the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed playing Pickleball, Bocce Ball, Shuffleboard and Raquetball, he also played Golf, and had 4 Hole-in-Ones. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sandra Ann Koenig; devoted daughters Heather J. Koenig of Ft. Myers, and Anne M. Gierthy (Todd) of Barrington, IL; and his loving grandchildren, Sofia, Chloe, and Lydia; dear siblings, Mary Moyer (late husband Fred), Darleen (Bob) Zimmerman both of Fond du Lac, WI, Cindy Berg of Stoughton, WI, Jerry (Tina) Koenig of Ontario, Canada, and Richard Koenig (late wife Mary Ann) of Dixon IL. Along with his parents Joseph was preceded in death by sister Rosemary Bump, and brother Edward Koenig. Family and friends will honor Joseph’s life at a later date and time.
