William Basil Burnette

William was born in Macon, Ga. on December 18, 1937 to the late Elmer James Burnette and Willie Beatrice Burnette.

He is survived by: his daughter; Sherry B. Murphy of Goose Creek, SC; his son; Darrell B. Burnette (Susan) of Fountain Inn, SC: His grandchildren Alyssa Murphy of Goose Creek, SC, Adam Murphy, of Goose Creek, SC, Lucy Burnette of Charlotte, NC., and Will Burnette of Charlotte, NC. His brother James Ronald Burnette(Barbara) of Bonair, GA. and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by: his wife Shirley Joyce Burnette and brother Lonnie Royce Burnette.

Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He spent 28 years serving in the Navy as a submariner. After his retirement from the Navy he continued his career as a Nuclear Shift Test Engineer at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was an active member of the masons at MacArthur Lodge #427 in Goose Creek, SC and Order of the Eastern Star Azalea Chapter #192. His hobbies included reading, and attending University of South Carolina Athletic events.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 1:00pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral and Cremation, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406.
