Thomas Lanier Burgess

He was born December 12, 1936 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late William and Velma Burgess.

He is survived by his wife, Helen M. Burgess; his twin brother, Frank G. Burgess (Nancy), sister Barbara Bennett, daughters Allyson (Mike) McDermott, Mary, Kathleen (Andy) Bestor, grandchildren Andrew (Amanda) Peyton, Brittany Ellow, 1LT Matthew Ellow, Jessica Chroust, "Little Thomas" Bestor, Gracie Bestor and great grandchildren Taylor, Shelby, Noah, Daenerys, Waylon.

Tom honorably served in the United States Coast Guard where he retired as Chief Petty Officer. His prior accomplishments include service in the USAF, Air National Guard, Federal Firefighter (retired) and a member of the Hammerton Lodge.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday August 11, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Funerals & Cremation, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday August 12, 2022 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow at 12:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
