Mary L. Walling, 71, of Summerville, SC, passed away peacefully on July 16th, while surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 15, 1953, in Franklin, NC, she was the cherished daughter of the late Clyde and Betty Bolick.
Mary found immense joy in life's simple pleasures. She had a passion for travel, treasured moments spent with friends and family, and found solace in the tranquility of their mountain retreat or simply spending time by the pool. Her competitive spirit shone the brightest whether she was playing board games, cards, or a round of cornhole, which always brought laughter and friendly rivalry to family gatherings. Mary also enjoyed the challenge of a good jigsaw puzzle, finding satisfaction in piecing together intricate designs. Mary also thrived on socializing and was said to have “never met a stranger”. Her genuine interest in others and infectious enthusiasm made every conversation memorable. Mary's warm-hearted nature extended beyond leisure activities but also into her career at The Carpet Shop, where she dedicated 45 years to building lasting customer relations and making a positive impact in her community. Always the caring soul, Mary ensured that everyone around her felt supported and had a reason to smile.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband, Joe Walling; her loving daughters Amanda Walling (Bonnie) and Susan Green; as well as her grandson Ryan Green (Chloe). She also leaves behind her sisters: Brenda Phillips, Barbara Cabe (Doug), Diane Dodge; brother Bruce Bolick (Elaine); and a host of nieces and nephews, who will deeply miss her warmth and kindness.
Mary's legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering care for others will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
