Mary Susan Ligon Roberts, age 89, of Charleston, SC, peacefully passed away at home on September 24, 2024. Born on August 20, 1935, in Tuscumbia, AL, she was the cherished daughter of Harvey Albert Ligon and Mary Ida Robinson Ligon.
Mary is survived by her three children: Sandra Kay Lambert of Gardiner, ME; Vickie Lynn Roberts of Charleston, SC; and John Hilson Roberts III of Bonneau, SC. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John Hilson Roberts Jr., and her dear brother, Allen Ray Ligon.
A vibrant member of the North Charleston United Methodist Church, Mary found joy in singing in the choir and nurturing her faith. Her spirit was also reflected in her love for bridge and her passion for tennis during her earlier years. Above all, she treasured her family.
A visitation will be held at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a celebration of life service at 1:00 PM. Mary will be laid to rest at Carolina Memorial Park thereafter.
