Dot was born on July 21, 1936, in Ridgeland, South Carolina, to the late Lewis Clyde Mason, Sr. and Eulalia Nettles Mason. Dot was a homemaker before rejoining the workforce as a Sales Associate at JC Penney. Dot worked for many years at JC Penney becoming a Merchandiser until taking a hiatus to help take care of her first two grandchildren. Dot then returned to JC Penney and continued working until retirement.
Charlie & Dot were married at the First Baptist Church of North Charleston where the Parker family attended for many years. Dot always had a quiet faith, choosing to serve in the background in the nursery. She had a gift for taking care of and loving the children of the church for decades. Dot then later attended Highland Park Baptist Church until dementia made it impossible to attend.
Dot is survived by her children, K. Russell Parker of Hanahan, and Kimberly Parker Williams and her husband John of North Charleston. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Heather (Kevin) Reiter, Justin (Romina) Parker, Kara (Daniel) Parker, Jessica Ford, Alyssa Parker; nine great-grandchildren, Daniel, Rebecca, Parker, Isabella, Lorelei, Kingston, Jack, Ellory and Isla. Dot is survived by two brothers, James Mason of Charlotte and George Mason of Lancaster, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 1:00pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Carolina Memorial with internment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Dot to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Old Fort Baptist Church, 10505 Dorchester Road, Summerville, SC 29485.
