Wilma Jane Hollandsworth, 86, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024. Born on November 6, 1937, in Rosston, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Harold and Mary (Ring) Morris. Wilma was a devoted wife, mother, and educator who touched the lives of many throughout her journey.
Wilma graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, obtaining her degree after the age of 40. She dedicated 14 years of her life to teaching elementary school children, sharing her love of learning and nurturing young minds. As the wife of an active-duty Air Force member for 25 years, Wilma lived in various places, including Hahn and Bitburg in Germany, Glasgow, Montana, Sherman, Texas, and Colorado Springs, before finally settling in Norman.
A member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Norman, she found strength and community in her faith. Wilma had a profound love for classical symphony and chamber music, often finding joy in its beauty. She was known for her ironic sense of humor, which brought laughter to those around her.
Wilma is remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering persistence. She enjoyed late spring and early fall days with interesting yet non-threatening clouds, which embodied her gentle spirit. Above all, she cherished her family, including her two sons, Jon and Brett (and wife Robin).
Wilma was the proud grandmother of three: Mikhail, Rachel, and Cody, and was also blessed with five great-grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved brothers Richard, Pauline, and Glenda, all of Enid, Oklahoma.
Wilma was married to Raymond Mitchell Hollandsworth on May 10, 1956, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He predeceased her on August 8, 1983.
Wilma’s legacy of love, patience, and devotion to teaching will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be missed dearly.
A Graveside will be held to honor Wilma’s life on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 10 AM at Sunset Memorial Park located at 2301 E Indian Hills Rd., Norman, OK, 73071.
