Travis John Harris was born on June 15, 1989 to his loving parents, Bill and Ann Harris. When he was three years old on June 16, 1992 the family welcome his sister Nikki. He would gently hold his little sister and the two of them were fast friends from then on, sometimes staunch allies against their parents.
Travis had a good sense of humor, was empathetic and kind. He was often the leader of any group he was a part of. He loved snow skiing, fishing and hunting with his dad. He was a natural artist, loved science and was well-read.
Travis loved his family and longed for one of his own. It was just a matter of finding the right young lady for him. Like a lot of young men, he got discouraged after failed relationships. Nevertheless, Travis had many friends; never caring about race, nationality, size or economic status. He only saw the person for who he or she was.
He was willing to get out of his comfort zone to try to better himself. After attending several colleges, he got his associates degree and completed Vo-Tech training, with honors, on his path to becoming an electrician. He worked at OU for two years, toward this goal. He then decided the better path for him was to become a chiropractor.
Travis was on this journey, attending Logan University in St. Louis, MO when he went home to be with the Lord; shortly after his 29th birthday. The students and faculty, about 70 in all, gave him a beautiful eulogy. Many spoke of his willingness to go out of his way to help, of the bigh hugs he gave and of his goofy sense of humor.
We never know the struggles someone is going through, or has been through. Therefore, we should be kinder to one another, give out more smiles and big hugs to one another. Travis would like that.
Travis’s parents and sister are so grateful for the time that they were able to spend with him. He will be greatly missed by them and his extended family which include his grand-fathers, Robert P. Harris, Bill Richardson and wife Barbara; uncles: Steve Harris and wife Stacy, Rick Harris and wife Diana, Dennis Richardson and wife Allison, numerous cousins as well as great uncles and aunts. He will also be missed by his many friends.
