Sue is part of the 1953 graduating class of Norman High School and attended Oklahoma University. Sue became a secretary and later became a manager at IBM over the administration staff. Sue moved to California and Texas before moving back to Oklahoma in 2017. In Sue’s free time, she loved to watch the Carol Burnett Show and Sound of Music, going to the farm, OU, and loved her family. Sue loved her family so much, that even on a secretary salary, she put her two children through college all by herself.
Sue taught many people that if you had a problem, to always talk it out, as the answer might come along the way, and no matter what life throws at you, God will help you through it.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents Clomer “Bud” Hames and Leola (Briggs) Hames, brother Jerry Hames, sister Joyce Grisham and husband Don Grisham, and brother in law Jerry Huddleston.
Those left to cherish Sue’s memory is her daughter Janet E. Smith and husband Donald D. Smith of Tulsa, son David J. Wilson and wife Ann M. Wilson of Lexington, sister Linda Huddleston of Lexington, grandchildren Matthew Wilson, Mitchell Wilson, Nathan Smith, Rachel Smith, Marissa Wilson and Cruz Lara, five great grandchildren, three nieces, four nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
A graveside service for Sue will be held Friday, June 7, 2024 at 10:00 AM at IOOF Cemetery, 1913 N Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071.
