He was raised in the Little River area of Norman, Oklahoma and attended Denver school before moving to Noble. In 1949, he was blessed with another Dad when Raymond Petross came into his life. His biggest supporters and those that helped shape his life were Raymond, and his grandparents, Fannie Mae and Ora Grant.
In 1962, he married Linda Willoughby. Through that union, Ronnie Joe, Keven and Mindy were born.
His first job was with a construction company where he helped build the Dam at Lake Thunderbird state park, then with the National Guard as a lake patrolman on Lake Thunderbird. Ronnie was a heavy equipment operator and could run any piece of equipment you put him in, but his preference was to be in a motor grader. Being a master operator, he was highly sought after and held positions with construction and oil field companies before joining the county in 1987. He enjoyed being on the county road crew where he could meet and talk to farmers, forging friendships and digging for Rose Rocks.
He served in the Oklahoma National Guard 120th Engineer Battalion and 45th Infantry. He was a proud Veteran. He was a big OU fan and Noble Bear Alum. One of his greatest joys was having a garden every year growing the biggest green onions and best tomatoes. He was a member of Skyridge FreeWill Baptist Church in Noble and was very strong in his faith and love for his Lord and savior.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his Dad Jack Sallee, Mom Minnie Petross, (Dad) Raymond Petross, Sister Carolynn Moreno, Brothers Mike & Mitch Petross.
