Marshall Alan Pierson, age 72, passed away at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.
Marshall was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on October 2, 1950 to Norman Albert Pierson and Frances Olivia(Thompson) Pierson. In the early 1950's he and his family moved to Norman, Oklahoma so that his father could start the family recycling business. He was the youngest of four and grew up with three beloved older sisters, Julie, Lore and Bonnie. The family owned a ranch in Pink, Oklahoma where Marshall spent many summers with his friends and family.
Marsh attended the Norman Schools through his sophomore year and spent his last 2 years at the Texas Military Institute in San Antonio, Texas where he made lifelong friendships.
Marshall served in the U.S. Navy from April 1971 to February of 1976 and served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. Marshall met the love of his life, Catherine, on a blind date while he was on leave. They had four months together before he had to make his first tour on the USS Niagara Falls to Vietnam waters. When he returned, Marsh and Cathy were married at the old St. Thomas More Catholic Church which is now known as "The Chouse" in Norman, OK.
Marshall received his BS in Business from the University of Oklahoma and upon graduation joined his family's business, Pierson-Naturizer in Norman. Marshall was the past president of the Norman Jaycee's, a member of the Norman Chamber of Commerce, the Patriot Guard and Craft Club of Norman. Marshall enjoyed restoring cars and had a particular love of Corvettes. He restored his first 1961 Corvette in the garage of their home; it now sits in a museum in England. His kids would enjoy those evenings riding bikes and playing with friends in the "circle" while he was working on a car and listening to music. Marshall loved his family and friends more than anything and enjoyed making sure the Norman High School Class of '68 stayed connected.
Marshall is preceded in death by his parents, Norman Albert Pierson and Frances Olivia (Thompson) Pierson, his niece Shelby Moore Triplett, Brent Armstrong(nephew- in-law), Dean Northcutt(nephew- in-law), his best friends Neil Worster and Larry Feuerborn.
Left to cherish his precious memory are his loving wife Catherine Carpenter Pierson, his children: Skye Pierson Henricks and Nathan Pierson, grand-daughter Anna Henricks, his sister Julianna and husband Jay Stuart Lipshy of Dallas, his sister Loretta Moore, his sister Bonita Cubert, nieces: Shauna Armstrong and Noria Yanz, great-nieces and nephews: Emily Allen, Abby Kaminski, Molly Armstrong, Blaine Armstrong, Devon Northcutt and Jaxson Northcutt, George and Nancy Carpenter, John and Sue Carpenter, Pat Carpenter and the rest of the Carpenter and Hardegree families in Chicago.
Marshall had a love of family, home, friends, music, cars. He loved a good western and loved watching classic black and white monster movies with his grand-daughter Anna. He is loved by many and will be dearly missed.
