Jamie was born on April 6, 1959, at Edwards Air Force Base in California, to Elmer James Hays and Frances “Francee” Joan Hays. Jamie graduated from Scottsbluff Nebraska High School and made Scottsbluff his home from 1974 to 1983, before relocating to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and later settling in Norman in 1991.
His heart beat to the rhythm of pop rock, finding solace in the melodies of Aerosmith, the Eagles, Journey, ZZ Top, Queen, Barbra Streisand, Alan Jackson, Whitney Houston, and the Bee Gees. He loved the color blue, westerns, being in the outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.
Known for his infectious laughter, Jamie found joy in the humor provided by his spouse, grandchildren, family, and friends, occasionally spiced with a well-timed dirty joke. He taught us the essence of love, trust, dependability, patience, and kindness. Embracing a philosophy that simplicity is key, he approached household tasks with diligence and believed in the honor of hard work.
Throughout his 22 years of service with the Norman Housing Authority, Jamie achieved significant personal and professional milestones. However, his most cherished accomplishment was marrying his beloved spouse, Dara D. Hays, on June 18, 1983. He reveled in the love of his family and friends but held a special place in his heart for Dara.
As we bid farewell to Jamie let us remember him as someone who always laughed, readily shared a joke, and found fulfillment in the laughter of others. His legacy lives on through the love he shared, the lessons he imparted, and the joy he found in life's simplest pleasures. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the echoes of laughter and the warmth of cherished memories.
Jamie is preceded in death by his father Elmer James Hays; brother Greg Moore; and furbabies Shekinah, Kiera, and Leisel.
