Gail Varley, 85 of Norman, passed away Monday, November 21, in Norman. Gail was born May 15, 1937, to Harold and Marjorie Williams in Watertown, New York. Gail married her high school sweetheart William Varley on September 12, 1954. They were married 58 years until Bill passed away in 2012. William graduated in 1958 from Cornell University in New York, and as a 2nd Lieutenant was posted to Fort Sill Oklahoma for the first of several times. Through a 20 year career Gail supported LTC Varley from base to base in the states and twice to Germany and only parted when he was deployed to his two tours in Vietnam. Gail and bill retired to Norman in 1980 and Bill graduated from OU with a Master’s in Business Administration and worked for OU until his retirement.
Gail was active with the Military wives cub in Norman and was a water aerobics devotee on campus M-W-F for the next 30 years. Gail and Bill were big OU fans and Gail missed few games as a season ticket holder for 40 years.
Gail is survived by Son, Michael Varley of Norman, and Daughter Terry Varley of Edmond, Daughter and Son in law Linda Ross and Dr. John Ross of Edmond who all graduated from OU. Gail had two grandchildren, Ashley Kate Mears and Brian James Ross and a great-granddaughter Olivia Ross.
There will be a private Memorial Service with inurnment at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Primrose Funeral Service.
