Ettajean Hobbs, who spent most of her life in Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on July 4, 1933, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Eugene Blythe Johnston and Ruth Candler (Nelson) Johnston.
After graduating high school, later in life she pursued her education at Realtor’s School. She was known for her caring nature and her deep commitment to her family and her faith.
Her first marriage to Alvin Bauernschmitt blessed her with four wonderful children Kelly, Steve, Shelly, and Charlotte. After their marriage ended, Ettajean met and married the love of her life, Jack Hobbs. Together, they were blessed with a wonderful son Jason. Jack and Ettajean shared a loving marriage for many years, until his passing in 2011.
Ettajean’s family was the heart of her life. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love and devotion continues to live on through them. Ettajean was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, remembered for her strong faith, kindness, and loving spirit.
She is survived by her children Kelly Bauernschmitt of Noble, Oklahoma; Steve Bauernschmitt and his spouse Shelly of Norman, Oklahoma; Shelly Johnson and her spouse George of Davis, Oklahoma; Charlotte Pruitt and spouse Kip of Davis, Oklahoma; Jason Hobbs of Fort Mill, South Carolina; and stepdaughter Susan Hobbs of Norman, Oklahoma. Additionally, Ettajean is survived by her grandchildren Beau Bauernschmitt, Brian Bauernschmitt, Michael Johnson, Mitch Johnson, Marshall Johnson, Julie Hefley, Brad Wilson, Bryson Pruitt, Courtney Belknap, Garrett Hobbs, Shelley Van Gage, Mical Abernathy, and Frank Wagner; and 23 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071. A funeral service to honor her life will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Primrose Funeral Service. Following the service, Ettajean will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 2301 E. Indian Hills Rd., Norman, Oklahoma 73071.
