Edna Earle McCraw was born in Waurika Oklahoma on November 6, 1925 to Earl E. McCraw and Rhama Lee Webb McCraw. They moved to Ardmore where she attended 4th through 8th grade and then in 1938 she moved to Norman where she attended Norman High School from her freshman year until she graduated in 1943. She then attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority as well as several academic organizations. She graduated from OU in May of 1947 with a BA in Spanish and a minor in English. Later that year she married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence Webb.
Her first job out of college was teaching Spanish at University High School and the later at Norman High School. In 1951 she and Lawrence opened their own business called "The Webb". It was a ladies shoe store on Campus Corner in Norman. They spent over 50 years working side by side and loving every minute of it! Through the store they made many lifelong friends as well as taught, mentored and cherished hundreds of wonderful employees. The Webb is still in business today, 63 years later, and is still family owned and operated. Edna Earle retired in 2005, at the age of 80, in order to spend more time at home with Lawrence who had retired a few years earlier. In 2009, she lost her beloved husband and she returned to work part time for as long as she possibly could to fill the huge void in her life created by Lawrence's passing. She lived the last two years of her life at the Arbor House Assisted Living where she enjoyed playing dominos and bingo and making new friends. The staff of Arbor House took good care of her and enjoyed her smile and pleasant attitude. Edna Earle loved her spending time with her family, playing golf, dancing, watching sports on TV and working!
She is survived by her two children, Mike Webb and Lee Ann Looman, four grandchildren, Jackson Looman, Mattie Looman, Conner Webb and wife Katie and Kacie Webb as well as one great grandchild Olivia Webb. She is also survived by six nieces and nephews that she counts as her own, along with their spouses and children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Gordon McCraw and his wife Cosette, her husband and a son in law, Jamie Looman.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Primrose Funeral Service.
The funeral will be held at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 15 at 2:00 pm. It will be followed with a reception in the atrium of the church.
