OBITUARY
Patricia Mary Barlow
29 January, 1951 – 3 September, 2013
Patricia Mary (McNitt) Barlow, 62, died on September 3, 2013 at the Envoy of Thornton Hall Nursing home after a lengthy, difficult illness. Pat, the daughter of James and Lilian McNitt, who preceded her in death was born in Holland, Michigan.
Pat, a registered nurse with a BSN from the University of Michigan began her career at the University of Michigan Medical Center and later joined the Sterlitz Diabetes Center in Norfolk, VA, where she coordinated the diabetes clinical research program.
Pat became an avid lover of Greyhounds, owning two, Chuy and Sambuca, and was an enthusiastic member of the Greyt Expectations Greyhound Rescue organization during which time she provided a foster home for many of these retired racers.
Additionally, upon retiring she became a volunteer with the Norfolk Botanical Gardens at the Butterfly house and found time to help out at the Food Bank and volunteered as a nurse at the storm shelters.
Pat is survived by her husband, Scott; her brother, William McNitt and his wife, Marilyn, and their daughters, Sarah and Rebecca.
The “OV Peanut” will be sorely missed by her many friends.
Memorial donations may be made to the “Greyt Expectations Greyhound Rescue” organization, (GreytExpectations.org), where they will be gratefully accepted in Pat’s honor.
A celebration of Pat’s life is planned and will be announced on Scott and Pat’s Blog, (rovr1.com/blog).
